We have a liability update. Our insurance company says that if the tree was healthy then the owner is not liable - act of God and all that, apparently if the tree were dead then the onus would have been on the owner of the tree to cut it down. Fortunately our insurance covers the removal of trees that have come down because of wind.

Screw the tree. You quit your job? It's about time.

CityPulse recently ran a segment on who has to pay for the tree removal. Unfortunately, some city officials will tell you the owner, others will tell you that any piece of a tree that was overhanging your yard is your responsibility. So it may not matter that the "owner" has no insurance.

Ouch. We had a 60 foot tree that was going to do that. Cost us $2200 to cut it down, grind the stump and remove it all. If we hadn't let them take the wood to sell as firewood, it would have cost us $3,000. We were worried about the house, especiailly the bedrooms, not the insurance.
